Care team nurses provide day-to-day care and help coordinate services, such as blood tests, scans, and medical appointments. Our nurses all have experience in radiation therapy.
Medical dosimetrists work with your doctor to prepare a treatment plan just for you. They calculate the angles and doses of proton energy required for your treatment, with a goal to protect your healthy tissue from radiation as much as possible. They work closely with the radiation therapy team throughout your treatment.
Medical physicists monitor the equipment and procedures used in proton therapy. They run checks on your individualized treatment plan to make sure the correct dose of protons is delivered, precisely targeting your tumor.
Your radiation oncologist is the leader of your personal care team at Fred Hutch and will manage your care with the support of other highly skilled medical professionals trained in providing proton therapy. They will meet with you once a week to review your progress and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. All of our physicians are specialists in proton therapy and treat all disease types. The radiation oncologists who provide clinical care at Fred Hutch are all members of the UW Physicians Group and hold faculty positions within the UW School of Medicine.
The nursing team is here to help you navigate any medical questions or concerns that may come up during your treatment. You'll have regularly scheduled visits to check in with your care team, but if anything comes up in between visits, your nurse is here to help.
