Center Hosts Events for Patients

SCCA Proton Therapy is dedicated to giving our patients the best experience possible while receiving treatment at the Center. One way in which they do so is by hosting groups and events for patients to get to know each other and meet others who are going through a similar experience. October 22nd marked the second Proton Prostate Club, a monthly get together for patients undergoing proton therapy treatment for prostate cancer. This group is for our current and past patients, and any potential patients who would like to learn more about the experiences of others who went through or are going through proton therapy for prostate cancer. The club is held over dinner on the third Thursday of the month and has provided a great opportunity for our patients to get to know each other over a meal. “It’s great to hang out with a group of guys who know exactly what you are going through,” says an attendee of the most recent club. The club will continue to be held monthly, and newcomers are encouraged to attend. Our Concierge staff would be happy to provide details to anyone interested.

In addition to hosting the Proton Prostate Club, SCCA Proton Therapy Center also hosts a weekly Dine Around, which is open to all of our current and former patients. Similar to the prostate cancer group, the Dine Around program is intended to provide a supportive environment for patients to connect, engage in discussions about dealing with cancer, and to make new friends who share a similar journey.

On occasion, the Center will provide extra special surprises for our pediatric patients. Check out this video of staff and physicians from out Center doing the Whip and Nae Nae dance with one of our young patients on his last day of treatment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQoumTxxOxs.
