Meet Nurse Leslie Kapsar

Meet Nurse Leslie Kapsar

Leslie is one of our newest members of the Nursing team. She grew up in western Pennsylvania and was inspired by her aunt, a neonatal intensive care nurse, and a neighbor who was a school nurse, to study nursing in Pittsburgh. She was a neonatal intensive care nurse for eight years, a post she found challenging but rewarding, and later continued working with children in a radiology department at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She came to Seattle four years ago, after her third child had moved to the West Coast. Her oldest son is a border patrol agent in San Diego, her second an engineer in Portland, and her daughter was a DEA fingerprinting expert in San Diego, who recently relocated to Washington, D.C. for a new government role. It’s safe to say that Leslie is a proud mom.

Leslie became interested in the nursing position at the Center because of the similarities to the work she did in Pittsburgh. She's dedicated most of her career to working with children, and she doesn't want that to stop. "I'm so happy to be here," she says. "The atmosphere is very welcoming and supportive of both staff and patients."

When she's not at work, Leslie likes to kayak the local lakes, hike, read mysteries and historical fiction, walk her two Pembroke corgis Toby and Tucker, and garden. She grows veggies and flowers in her garden but is still adjusting to the different growth cycles here. They're a lot shorter here than in Pennsylvania. She recently road-tripped across the country as far as Michigan, stopping at as many state parks and monuments as she could. She also made a point of trying the local craft brews along the way. She’s also a tried-and-true Steelers fan, but don’t give her too much grief!

Please say hello to Leslie the next time you see her.
