5 Questions with Michelle Epp

5 Questions with Michelle Epp

Michelle is our new Scheduling Coordinator. You'll probably speak to her as she sets up your appointments for proton therapy. Michelle grew up in Redondo Beach, California, which is a beach town outside of Los Angeles. "I grew up playing soccer, going to the beach, and hanging out with friends and family," Michelle explained. Hear what Michelle had to say to The Beam.

What does proton therapy mean to you?

Proton therapy is a great medical advancement. It's a fantastic option to be able to radiate cancer with more precision and fewer harmful effects on the body. I am happy to be a part of a team that can provide hope and strength through proton therapy.

The people at the Center really care for our health-sensitive patients. It has been educational and comforting to see the Center’s efforts in protecting the patients here. With COVID-19 affecting everyone, everywhere, the Center has also done a great job at taking precautions to protect the staff. I've made a great decision in working here.

What got you started in your career?

I originally wanted to become a radiation therapist (RTT) because my cousin is one. At my college orientation, they grouped future RTTs with Public Health and Healthcare Management majors. I became more attracted to the administration and management side of healthcare because I'd ultimately affect the quality and experience of each patient. I wanted to focus more on the quality of care the patient was receiving.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to travel, walk around downtown Seattle, go to concerts or festivals, snowboard, watch football or soccer, and hang out with friends and family.

Tell us something surprising about you.

I traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to watch a couple of events in the Summer Olympics in 2016. I was able to see the final soccer game, and boxing and track & field events.

Whom do you look up to, and why?

I look up to my dad. He is the most hardworking man I know. He started his own business and is now a successful Napa Auto Parts owner. He is supportive, a great listener, knowledgeable, and funny. I hope to be as successful as he is by working as hard as he did.
