Elizabeth Darlington, MSW, LICSW - Social Worker

Meet our social worker, Elizabeth Darlington, MSW, LICSW. She joined our center last fall after a hiatus to raise her two children. Originally from suburban New York, she met her husband, Paul, a native Seattleite, at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and has since bounced from coast to coast several times. Most recently, she spent seven years in the Boston area, where she earned her master’s degree in social work and practiced at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and in elder home care services.

Darlington grew up going to church every Sunday and is still very active in the Episcopalian church. “My favorite place to play was the churchyard,” she says. “And now, I am a lover of history and historical places such as cemeteries! I recently wrote some articles for a local nonprofit about historical cemeteries in Washington.”Darlington also likes to sing in choirs and bands and plays piano and guitar. Outdoor sports — such as tennis, swimming, ping-pong and walking through neighborhoods — also top her list of interests. She enjoys Gas Works Park and Washington Park Arboretum, which she recommends to patients staying in Seattle for treatment.

At the center, Darlington helps with emotional support for patients and families, regular visits, check-ins for supportive counseling (time permitting), mental health screenings and referrals to community providers, and resource assistance such as lodging, transportation, navigating health insurance and other concrete needs or questions.

“I am here to be supportive and helpful in any way that I can be on the non-medical side of your treatment,” says Darlington. “I can hold space for you to come and talk about anything you are experiencing at the time.”

Stop by and say hello the next time you are at the center. Darlington is in the office Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
