What drew you to cancer care at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance?

Being a part of one of the nation’s leading cancer centers is a real privilege. The fact that we are the only center in the country which can use a variety of radiation modalities including protons, photons, electrons, and neutrons to treat our patients allows me to craft the perfect plan for my patients.

Why are you passionate about proton therapy?

Protons are one more tool in our tool belt to provide the absolute best treatment options for our patients. Using this innovative technology can sometimes improve the quality of life while we cure our patients.

What has been your favorite moment in care to date?

I feel fortunate to work with patients and their families to help them with their cancer diagnosis. We work together to achieve a shared outcome of success. The relationship between the patient and myself is one I value tremendously and is probably my favorite thing about care.

What’s your favorite pastime?

I love being active, whether it is running, hiking, backpacking, skiing, or just going for a walk around the block. One of my outcomes for my patients is always to keep them as active as they desire.

Anyone you look up to? Why?

I look up to a number of people in my life. I value my family a tremendous amount and feel fortunate to have parents who worked hard to ensure I got a good education and had strong family values.
