Meet our Concierge, Jill Louthian

Meet our Concierge, Jill Louthian

We love to spotlight our amazing staff. One of the first people patients and visitors meet when they come to the Center is Jill Louthian, a valued member of our concierge team. Jill makes sure our patients feel warm and welcomed, addresses patient needs, coordinates special functions, educates patients about what they can expect during treatment at the center and the services we offer, and helps out-of-town patients with housing and transportation. She has been with us since August 2018.

Jill’s friendly demeanor is both infectious and genuine, hallmarks of a positive attitude about life. She attributes this to growing up with a loving and supportive family who encouraged her dreams and passions. She hails from Spokane, WA, and moved to Seattle almost six years ago to attend the University of Washington.

She loved growing up in Spokane because of its small-town feel. She often ran into people she knew, and friends and family were close by. Jill is very athletic, she played a lot of sports during her school years, including basketball, gymnastics, and tennis. She enjoys staying active and loves to hike and ski. She also loves water sports – swimming, boating, wake boating and wake surfing.

"My favorite place in the entire world is about a 40-minute drive from Spokane: Lake Coeur d'Alene. My family has a cabin on the lake, so we spent most summers there when I was growing up. I try to go back a couple of times each summer to visit my family and get my lake fix. We are so lucky to have water and mountains all around us in the Pacific Northwest.” Since moving to Seattle, Jill loves discovering the amazing spots on this side of the state.

Jill graduated from the University of Washington in 2018 with a degree in Biology and was interested in getting a job in healthcare. She researched different companies and positions and came across the Center, and the rest is history. As it turns out, Colton, her fellow concierge team member, had also been at the University of Washington, and they even had classes together.

Jill loves her job, especially the wonderful people. "Both our patients and the staff are so amazing. The Center is unique in that we get to genuinely know our patients and their families. I have met some pretty incredible people during my time here, whom I will remember forever."

Working at the Center has helped Jill figure out exactly what aspects of a job she values. She loves working with and helping people. She has learned how to create meaningful relationships with people in a professional and personal way.

"Working with oncology patients has been especially rewarding," she explains. "We work with such amazing, inspirational, and grateful patients who have taught me so much about life. I have witnessed the staff providing compassionate and educated mentorship to those who need it. It’s inspired me to develop my career in that direction. I want to mentor as well as help people navigate spaces that are new or uncomfortable to them." Thinking along those lines, Jill is pursuing a Master's degree in Higher Education and a career in a college setting.

Jill would like to stay in Washington long term, but travel to Europe, Asia, and the rest of the United States. "One of my dreams is to visit New York City during Christmas time and ice skate at the Rockefeller Center rink. It probably stems from my obsession with the Home Alone movies," she tells us.
