5 Questions with Rajesh Regmi, PhD

5 Questions with Rajesh Regmi, PhD

Meet Rajesh Regmi, PhD, one of our medical physicists, who make sure that everything related to the workings of the proton beam is working perfectly.

What drew you to work in proton therapy?

Initially, I entered in the field of proton therapy to learn about another modality of radiation therapy. But, after working in the field for a few years, I realized that proton therapy has more potential to cure cancer than other modes of radiation therapy, and continued working in the field.

What got you started in your career?

I was motivated to study physics to understand how different laws and concepts combined to produce the phenomena observable in everyday life. This led me to get PhD in Physics. At the same time, I was also attracted to medicine because of the increasing importance of healthcare to society. Medical Physics was a common ground for both of my interests, and so I started my career as a medical physicist.

Whom do you look up to and why?

I look up to Albert Einstein and Buddha, because they are the geniuses of the external world and the internal world, respectively.

Tell us a good joke!

Principal: "I got a complaint that you always come late to work."

Teacher: "Yes, I come late, but I leave early to make up for it!"

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to hike, view the mountains, watch documentaries, listen to good songs, and meditate.
