What drew you to work in proton therapy?

I was very fortunate to land in proton therapy. In my view, it is the most meaningful application of my skills and training. I had ideal teachers and mentors along the way as well as a very supportive wife and family.

How would you explain your job to someone?

My clinical job is to produce the safest and most effective radiation therapy possible. My research job is to develop, test, prove, and communicate ways of improving long-term quality of life for children with cancer in low-, middle-, and high-income countries. Both jobs are performed as part of a team of exceptional people.

Tell us something surprising about you!

I lived in Beirut, Lebanon, for five and a half years and loved it!

What’s your favorite vacation destination?

Warm: Maui.  Cold: Banff. Both have a lot to offer.

Tell us a good joke!

Why was the cucumber blushing? It saw the salad dressing.
