Meet our New Associate Medical Director

Meet our New Associate Medical Director

As we enter the New Year, we wanted to share some exciting changes to our leadership team.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jing Zeng will join our leadership team as Associate Medical Director.

Dr. Zeng is a board-certified radiation oncologist who has previously led the prostate cancer program at the SCCA Proton Therapy Center. She also specializes in treating lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies and has helped build the thoracic radiation oncology program at UW Medicine.

Dr. Zeng earned her medical degree at Duke University, completed her residency in radiation oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and was involved in clinical research and translational lab research throughout.

Dr. Zeng’s research involves finding different medicines that minimize side effects of radiation treatment. She is also studying new technologies to make radiation delivery safer and more accurate, and is helping the Genitourinary (prostate) Proton Therapy Program in their community outreach, clinical, and research efforts.

Dr. Ramesh Rengan, who has been Medical Director of the SCCA Proton Therapy Center since 2014, has been named the new Interim Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington. In this role, Dr. Rengan will oversee the department of world-class staff, nurses, trainees, researchers, and physicians, and their innovative research programs and state-of-the-art cancer treatment. We wish to thank the outgoing chair, Dr. Nina Mayr, for her support of the center during her tenure as Chair, and wish her well.

Dr. Rengan will remain the Medical Director of the SCCA Proton Therapy Center, with the same collective commitment to our patients.
