SCCA Proton Therapy Celebrates the Holidays

SCCA Proton Therapy Celebrates the Holidays

The holidays may seem like just about the worst time to have cancer in the family. Here at SCCA Proton Therapy Center we strive to give each patient the best experience possible, especially during the holiday season. This year the Center wanted to do something special for the pediatric patients receiving treatment here in the month of December. SCCA Proton Therapy Center hosted its first holiday party for kids. Amongst holiday decorations and music the kids created arts and crafts projects, spent time with their families, and each received a special gift from the staff. “It just brightened our day to finish treatment and then get to go do fun holiday activities!” said the parent of a patient. There were many smiles in our lobby during the party, and we hope to continue this positivity through the rest of the season for every one of our patients.

While everyone at the Center is joyed to provide festivities to our patients during the holidays, we are also here for anyone who needs some extra support during this time. Even the jolliest of traditions lose their luster when you’re worried about your health care needs or those of someone you love. Our onsite social worker is here to meet with any current patient or family member who needs assistance. One of our partners, Fred Hutch, provides tips for surviving the holidays with cancer: http://www.fredhutch.org/en/news/center-news/2014/12/tips-for-surviving-holidays-with-cancer.html
