This year we were proud to partner with KEXP again for our 3rd Annual Music Heals: Beyond Cancer, a day of programming dedicated to the power of music and the important role it plays for those facing cancer. On Thursday, March 28, hundreds of members in our community shared their personal stories and the songs that helped them heal.

The day concluded in the KEXP Gathering Space, with an evening of stories, songs, and music by BowieVision, a David Bowie cover band. Thank you to everyone who turned out! Due to the popularity, we’re thrilled to see KEXP has expanded this Music Heals series into additional events throughout the year.

Check out photos from the event below.

After an emotional day of stories and music, DJ Kevin Cole introduces the evening event.

Dr. Ramesh Rengan, Medical Director at SCCA Proton Therapy Center, talks about the cancer journey.

Dr. Rengan and KOMO TV meteorologist Steve Pool have a candid conversation about cancer.

Emotions run the gambit, from tears to smiles.

Steve Pool talks about how cancer affected him and his family....

... and hope for the future.

Local support organizations had tables at the event.

Fauxie Bowie speaks about his own connection to cancer and why this event is meaningful to him.

And Bowie Vision launches into an excellent set of David Bowie songs.

A fan records the band for later...

... while another is okay with the muted version.

Bowie Vision got everyone rocking.

Plenty of fans got up and danced and sang along.
