Breast Cancer; Gynecological Cancers

Dr. Mayr is a board-certified radiation oncologist and Professor and past Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington. Prior to joining Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Dr. Mayr created the Department of Radiation Medicine at Ohio State University and served as its inaugural Chair. There she was also a member of the NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Experimental Therapeutics Program. Dr. Mayr was Director of Radiation Oncology and professor and Vice Chair of Radiological Sciences at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center, where she built the University’s new radiation oncology facility. Dr. Mayr specializes in Gynecologic and Breast Cancers along with Lung and Spine tumors.

Dr. Mayr earned her medical degree at Ludwig-Maximillians-Universität in Munich, Germany, and completed her residency and fellowship in breast and gynecologic radiation oncology at the University of Iowa, where she served on for eight years.

Accomplishments:
Dr. Mayr has been awarded two National Institutes of Health (NCI) RO1 grants for the study of functional/molecular imaging as a predictor of cancer treatment outcome. She serves in numerous capacities in professional societies in her field, has been awarded the Fellowship of the American Society of Radiation Oncology in 2011, and has been elected Fellow of the American Association of the Advancement of Science since 2006.
